Henkel UK is celebrating Pritt’s 50th anniversary by joining a global initiative to support children. “We Craft for Children” is a fun programme that gives colleagues in Pritt countries the chance to turn their hands and imaginations to creating art with a fund-raising goal. At the UK’s local event, the atmosphere was filled with ‘giving-back’ spirit, plenty of laughter and great imagination.

The challenge: to create a paper figure depicting what employees wanted to be as children. Every figure created is being collected and sent to Germany to be used as part of one big Pritt sculpture. In return for this arty endeavour, Henkel will make a donation for every figure sent in. The three most active teams will then choose local charities to which the donations will go. In Henkel’s UK Headquarters in Hemel Hempstead, 58 fantastic figures depicting everything from ballerinas, doctors, astronauts and an entomologist were created during a fun-filled day.

As a child, Oliver Ramirez, Brand Manager - Consumer Adhesives, wanted to be an astronaut. His fascination with space and astrophysics began in first grade when his homework was to prepare a presentation about space and the solar system. Today, his astronaut craft will help children achieve their own dreams.

Amanda Palmer, HR Officer, always dreamt of being a football player. As a child, she spent much of her time playing football with her three brothers and their friends and her crafted football player reflected her memories with her family.

In 1969, Henkel invented the world’s first glue stick and the sticky world of crafts has never been the same since. Pritt has always carried the responsibility of providing strong performance, maintaining a sustainable footprint and catering to environmental and social needs – it is made from 90% natural ingredients (mainly potato starch!), is solvent- and PVC-free, and certified to comply with stringent EU child safety legislation. It’s so safe, that you could – theory at least – eat it with no ill effects but of course, that is NOT recommended!

Silvia Adam, Marketing Manager, Consumer Adhesives, who organised the event, said: “It was so good to see everyone becoming children again – with big dreams and big imaginations to match! Thank you to everyone who took part and helped raise money for charity.”
