What you´ll do
This Bridgewater based position is focused on meeting the technical needs of our APP-paper coatings team. This Business Development Application Engineering role will be entrepreneurial, and customer focused to develop and implement solutions that enable our customers to introduce innovative, sustainable packaging products into the market. Customer focused value delivery and quantification projects are key drivers that could include on-site technical service. This individual will have inside technical responsibilities including product evaluations, complaint investigations, equipment sourcing and set-ups, and raw material and product recommendations for our paper coatings markets.
- Works closely with our Business Development, and Marketing, to meet the technical needs within our APP platform and is a key contributor to our new market growth opportunities.
- Extensive knowledge and experience around paper packaging coatings.
- Manage and steer innovation development programs in partnership with the business development team and field associates– setting project milestones and driving progress to deliver new products/market opportunities.
- The Business Development AE will focus on shaping the innovation pipeline and sustainable solutions as well as introducing new products, technology, and tools to the field/market.
- Connect with external stakeholders (suppliers, customers, research institutes) to support development initiatives.
- Prepares laboratory reports which present findings and conclusions and prepares direct customer correspondence.
- Understands lab procedures presented in Technical journals, can adapt, and modify procedures to meet project requirements and effectively communicate technical information back to Business Development.
- Interprets laboratory results and recommends next experimental steps or products.
- Sets up and operates standard lab equipment of moderate complexity.
- Establishes and leverages external networks and partnerships.
What makes you a good fit
- BS Chemistry or ChE or other equivalent degree with industry experience.
- 1-5 plus years of technical service, product development, or paper converting industry experience.
- Ability to multi-task with strong analytical and mechanical skills.
- Excellent project management and organization skills.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience in troubleshooting complex / difficult problems.
- Excellent people skills; able to work effectively with a range of individuals from manufacturing operators and laboratory technicians through senior management both at customers and within Henkel.
- Travel in North America, approximately 30%.
- Computer experience with MS Word, Excel, Power Point, and preferably SAP and GPM.

The salary for this role is $85,000- $120,000. This is the range that we in good faith anticipate relying on when setting wages for this position. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range and this range. This salary range may also be modified in the future.
